Agro Shade Nets
What Are Agro Shade Nets?
Agro shade nets (also called shade cloth or agricultural netting) are knitted or woven fabrics made primarily from 100% High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) stabilized with UV inhibitors. They are designed to diffuse or block a specific percentage of sunlight while allowing air, water, and light to pass through in controlled amounts.
Key Functions & Benefits
| Benefit | How It Helps Plants |
|---|---|
| Light Regulation | Provides 30–90% shade (common ranges: 30%, 50%, 70%, 90%) depending on crop needs |
| Temperature Control | Reduces heat stress by 5–10°C under the net |
| UV Protection | Blocks harmful UV rays while allowing beneficial PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) |
| Wind & Hail Protection | Acts as a physical barrier against strong winds and hail |
| Pest & Bird Control | Some nets (insect nets) have finer mesh to keep out aphids, whiteflies, fruit flies, birds |
| Water Conservation | Reduces evaporation and water requirement by up to 30–50% |
| Humidity Management | Maintains higher relative humidity under the net |
| Extended Growing Season | Protects from frost, heavy rain, and extreme heat |
